Norwood

About us

Norwood is the largest Jewish charity in the UK supporting vulnerable children and their families, children with special educational needs and people with learning disabilities and autism.

Norwood makes an invaluable difference to people's lives. We have a multi-disciplinary team of practitioners and a family of services designed specifically to support vulnerable children and their families, and children with special educational needs.

We have social workers, family support workers, counsellors and specially tailored parenting programmes and support groups, to provide support and advice to children and families in crisis or experiencing difficult times. We are there to offer immediate, short or long-term help to those that reach out to us.

We offer educational support services, occupational therapy, speech therapy and groups for children with social and emotional difficulties. We advocate for parents of a child struggling with school because of an emotional or learning difficulty. We are there for the child and the parent.

We offer a respite facility for children with learning disabilities or complex health needs. A service we offer for the child, yet one that has the most profound impact on the life of their family.

We help with the move for older children into suitable residential accommodation such as our 'outstanding' residential care home at 30 Old Church Lane, Stanmore and we help make life meaningful for those living as independently as possible in our 12 residential care homes in Ravenswood Village. Homes such as our Tager, our specialised autism unit; home to 16 people on the autistic spectrum and rated 'outstanding' by the Care Quality Commission in May 2018.

Our work with children, young people and adults with learning disabilities is geared to providing the individual support that each person needs. We offer practical support with housing, learning, social and cultural activities and holidays.
